From db at db.net Mon Jan 5 12:26:11 2009 From: db at db.net (Diane Bruce) Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2009 12:26:11 -0500 Subject: [ocuug] January OCUUG Meeting Message-ID: <20090105172611.GA33334@night.db.net> I've not seen a reminder note from Scott yet. I do believe this is the right week, fooled me because January started on a Thursday. Just as a reminder, this Thursday (January 8) is the second Thursday of the month. For those who do not remember, that means the Ottawa-Carleton Unix Users Group gets together for an evening of conversation, beverages and food (not necessarily in that order). Details: Colonnade Pizza & Restaurant, 280 Metcalfe (at Gilmour) 18:00 (6:00pm) Thursday, January 8, 2009 There is a map (http://www.ottawaplus.ca/portal/profile.do?profileID=49236) You can also visit the website for the same information (http://www.ocuug.on.ca) -- - db at FreeBSD.org db at db.net http://www.db.net/~db From scott5 at ovsage.org Mon Jan 5 20:43:07 2009 From: scott5 at ovsage.org (Scott Murphy) Date: Mon, 05 Jan 2009 20:43:07 -0500 Subject: [ocuug] January OCUUG Meeting In-Reply-To: <20090105172611.GA33334@night.db.net> References: <20090105172611.GA33334@night.db.net> Message-ID: <4962B72B.7000909@ovsage.org> Diane Bruce wrote: > I've not seen a reminder note from Scott yet. > I do believe this is the right week, fooled me because January started > on a Thursday. > > Just as a reminder, this Thursday (January 8) is the second > Thursday of the month. > > For those who do not remember, that means the Ottawa-Carleton Unix Users > Group gets together for an evening of conversation, beverages and food > (not necessarily in that order). > > Details: > > Colonnade Pizza & Restaurant, 280 Metcalfe (at Gilmour) > 18:00 (6:00pm) > Thursday, January 8, 2009 > > There is a map > (http://www.ottawaplus.ca/portal/profile.do?profileID=49236) > > You can also visit the website for the same information > (http://www.ocuug.on.ca) > > -- > - db at FreeBSD.org db at db.net http://www.db.net/~db > _______________________________________________ > OCUUG mailing list > OCUUG at listserv.storm.ca > http://listserv.storm.ca/mailman/listinfo/ocuug > See you there! From armando.fox at usenix.org Thu Jan 8 18:04:33 2009 From: armando.fox at usenix.org (Armando Fox) Date: Thu, 08 Jan 2009 15:04:33 -0800 Subject: [ocuug] HotOS XII Call For Papers Deadline Approaching Message-ID: <49668681.8010504@usenix.org> Colleagues, Happy New Year to all of you. With the HotOS XII submission deadline just a week away, I want to encourage you again to send your best ideas. As you know, HotOS is very influential: new ideas get exposure there, receive the benefit of discussion with colleagues, and ultimately become important new directions in the field. With major new areas of interest such as cloud computing and multicore, there is no shortage of problems and, I'm sure, no shortage of novel approaches to those problems. More information on how and what to submit can be found at http://www.usenix.org/hotos09/cfpb/ For those concerned about potential travel costs, a sample travel budget is posted at http://www.usenix.org/hotos09/ which shows that attending HotOS XII will be no more expensive than attending OSDI. We're getting a truly amazing hotel rate, and the registration and room and board come in at just about $1,000 U.S. We are working on getting sponsorship that may help us reduce the registration and hotel fees even further. I look forward to seeing your best new ideas next week!
